"the way we do anything, is the way we do everything"
budokon yoga is a modern yoga style that unites yoga with martial arts and other movement styles. it was developed and popularised by cameron shayne, yogi and martial artist, beginning in 2001. this physically demanding practice, that synchronizes classical yoga with marital arts, calisthenics and animal locomotion was created as a condition practice for movers of all types seeking the highest level of skill.
the foundation of this style is the budokon yoga primary series. this series consists of 7 intelligently assembled sections of slow and controlled movements designed to improve agility, joint mobility, muscular strength and cardiovascular stamina. the techniques are learned through repetition and precision, the emphasis being on the transitions from posture to posture, rather than the holding of postures. fluid and circular movement patterns bring a graceful yet powerful quality to this practice and demand complete concentration and awareness.
the name budokon was taken from the japanese language: bu=warrior, do=way, kon=spirit/soul. this translates as "the way of the warrior spirit".
